Recovery Coaches
Working towards stigma reduction.
Recovery is a long-term process that requires community connection and compassionate support. The challenge is that individuals leaving treatment or hospital settings often lack ongoing peer support and face persistent stigma that undermines recovery efforts.
CVPC and CVMC partner with the Turning Point Center of Central Vermont to embed Recovery Coaches in the Emergency Department, offering peer-based follow-up for individuals experiencing substance use crises. In addition, CVPC sponsors Responding to Addiction trainings, a validated stigma reduction tool, from the Addiction Policy Forum to educate staff, businesses, and community members on how to reduce stigma and support recovery.
Recovery Coaches available 24/7 in the ED since 2018.
Impacts & Successes
Nearly 100 community service providers received Responding to Addiction in 2024.
1,411 individuals served through the RCED program from 2020-2025.
